Capilano Salmon Hatchery - General Information

Location:

Capilano River Regional Park, North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - just minutes from downtown Vancouver.

Directions:

Capilano Road north (Capilano Road exit from Highway #1 or North Vancouver exit off Lions Gate Bridge, then left up Capilano Road) .5 km past the Suspension Bridge. Turn Left on to Capilano Park Road (Look for sign "Capilano River Regional Park") and proceed down 1 km to end of the road.

Hours of Operation:

The hatchery's interpretive centre is open to the public every day of the year. There is no charge. Hours are:

November - March 8 AM - 4 PM
April 8 AM - 4:45 PM
May 8 AM - 7 PM
June - August 8 AM - 8 PM
September 8 AM - 7 PM
October 8 AM - 4:45 PM

The hatchery office hours are from 8 AM - 4 PM, Monday to Friday.

Parking:

Parking in Capilano River Regional Park is provided by the Greater Vancouver Regional District and current (July 2003) parking rates (for commercial tour buses and limousines only) are as follows:
(Commercial Parking rates based on seating capacity)

     24 or less seats $20/per visit.
     25 or more seats $25/per visit.

Safety:

The canyon can be a very dangerous place for people of all ages because of the steep and slippery banks that lie within. Some areas of the canyon are marked with signs and fenced off. Remember that it is possible for the river level to become dangerously high within a short period of time. Be Aware. It is not possible to safeguard the entire park.

Do not leave valuables in parked cars or buses.
