South Vancouver Island volunteers, First Nations, and ENGOs continue
to increase the level, scope and scale of their involvement in
projects and processes directed at protecting, conserving, and
enhancing our freshwater and marine ecosystems. Levels of commitment,
dedication, and technical expertise demonstrated by South Island
residents have reached new levels of excellence in a wide variety of
activities including salmon stock assessment and enhancement;
freshwater and marine habitat mapping, inventory, and restoration;
watershed and water use planning; education and outreach; and the
conservation of aquatic species at risk. By continuing to display the
ability and motivation to play a leadership role in the stewardship of
our aquatic resources and the habitats that support them. South Island
residents give good cause for optimism in these challenging times.Community Projects
